NATURAL VERTIGO RELIEF
WHAT IS VERTIGO | WHAT MAY CAUSE VERTIGO? | AND WHAT CAN YOU DO TO CORRECT VERTIGO’S CAUSE?
Vertigo is the sensation of the world spinning around you, a sense of loss of balance when you are standing up or laying down. Vertigo can be caused by head and neck trauma, stroke or tumor. Vertigo can also come from an acute infection in the inner ear, which effects the vestibular system. The vestibular system is vital to our well-being because it controls our equilibrium, motion, and spatial orientation. Our vestibular system detects all the movement around us and keeps us balanced and upright so we can perform our activities of daily living. When our vestibular system is malfunctioning, it is difficult for our bodies to determine where we are oriented in space causing dizzy spells, loss of balance, tinnitus, and nausea. The vestibular nerve nucleus can be traced back to the medulla and pons located in the brain stem. The brain-stem is the control center of the body which allows the brain and body to communicate and carry out proper function. When there is no interference or tension in the brainstem, the body can function and operate correctly in a state of health. When there is interference in the control center of our brain, the body can no longer communicate properly with the body and that is when our body starts presenting symptoms of pain, discomfort, and disease.
HOW CAN A BLAIR UPPER CERVICAL CHIROPRACTOR HELP WITH VERTIGO AND DIZZINESS?
The human head can weigh 10-13 pounds depending on the person, and is held up by the top two bones in your neck the atlas and the axis. The atlas and axis both weigh 2 ounces respectively and house the brain stem. The human head outweighs these two bones drastically, which is why this can become a very unstable joint in the body. The atlas and axis can become dislodged and locked from trauma (minor or major) causing interference to the brain stem. When the nervous system is irritated health problems can develop, such as vertigo.
Blair Upper cervical chiropractors are specialists who take precise x-rays of how the atlas and axis sit relative to the person’s head. These x-rays are then measured and the misalignments are marked to an exact millimeter of how that bone needs to be corrected in order to remove the interference and tension in the brain stem. The x-rays are measured to the exact degree of that person’s anatomy and then an extremely precise light tap adjustment is given to the patient to put the vertebrae back into motion. By removing interference the body can begin to heal itself. Oftentimes this will resolve the dizziness, spinning, loss of balance, ringing in the ears, anxiety, and nausea. Blair upper cervical chiropractic often brings more natural relief to vertigo than conventional methods. Dr. Glocke is one of a few Upper Cervical Chiropractors on the East Coast certified in the Blair Method. If you would like more information email [email protected].
